At this rate you'll find more Barossa winemakers in the pub than the winery in February....and in so many ways that's a good thing.
The later start to the growing season and generally mild temperatures look set to push the harvest into mid to late March - the absolute best time for slow, late season ripening. Where the grapes slowly develop deeper colors, more intense flavours and finer tannins - all the fundamentals of a great Barossa vintage. Fingers crossed for more big blue sky days and cool nights to come.
We're getting set to release the 2023 vintage of Albert Shiraz in the next few months - a wine we first made back in 2003 and named for my grandfather, a man of strong will but quiet leadership.
'Albert' has enjoyed many stellar moments over 20 vintages (we didn't release a wine from 2020), perhaps none more than a 99 point rating from James Halliday for the 2021 vintage - "Barossa Valley Shiraz doesn't come much better than this". A fitting score and epithet for a wine we aim to showcase the very best of Barossa Shiraz.
That particular cupboard is well and truly empty, but the 2022 was certainly no shy wallflower, with Dave Brookes of Halliday equally impressed giving it a 95 point score...."classic Barossa here". As it should be...in our view, 2022 is one of great Barossa red vintages of all time.
We're getting down to the last stocks of the 2022, and about to release the 2023. As loyal Righteous Society members we aim to always give you first bite of the cherry, so now's the time to jump on a mixed 6 pack of Albert containing 3 bottles each of the 2022 and 2023 vintages. Priced at $330 including delivery, you'll save 21% on our regular price and have yourself some very enjoyable wines to savour....or cellar.
