We believe greatness often comes from contrast and the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley are a classic example of this. Interestingly, The Germanic ‘Kavalier’ (courtly gentleman/gallant soldier) contrasts with the English ‘Cavalier’ (off-handed arrogance), mirroring the relationship between Cabernet Sauvignon from Eden Valley and Barossa Valley.

Eden’s higher altitude fruit imparts fragrance and finesse, whilst the Barossa component drives richness, density and power. The ‘Kavalier’ Cabernet Sauvignon walks the line between refinement and boldness, showcasing the very best of both sub-regions.

    Background Spiel

Fruit is sourced from the two iconic Barossa sub-regions, with the final blend being 52% Eden Valley and 48% Barossa Valley. The Eden Valley fruit is sourced from the Eden Hall vineyard planted at 400m elevation and was picked on April 8th, spending 11 days fermenting on skins to draw out its hallmark fragrance and fine tannins. The Barossa component was harvested from the Semmler Vineyard in Lyndoch on March 16th. The 8-day ferment delivering the signature richness and density we expect from the Valley.

Matured separately in 20% new French oak Barriques and Hogheads for 20 months, the final blend displays the finesse, balance and complexity we expect from high end Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Classic Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant, violet, and tobacco leaf appear on the nose, whilst the palate sees cassis, dark chocolate, and a touch of fine French oak. The Eden Valley component drives freshness and fine structure, while the Barossa brings its signature plushness and mocha tones. Seamlessly integrated French oak adds polish, and the finish is long, powerful, and recognisably Teusner. Whilst drinking perfectly in its youth, the Kavalier is crafted to cellar beautifully for years to come.
